June News and Updates

I would like to thank the staff for another successful launch season. It's their hard work and skills that get your boats ready for the water.

Some exciting news that I shared with the staff on Friday and would like to share with you.

I have hired a General Manager to help me carry the load of operating the Marina. Some of you might already know him as he has been around the Marina for years and was born and raised in Wiarton.

More tidbits below...read on!

Cam Loucks

New General Manager

We welcome Cam to the new position.

Cam's background is aviation and airport management. He has been around boats all his life. Living locally and being around the Marina Cam will be a good fit for us.

I will be working closely with Cam to ensure he maintains the operation to our high standards

Your 2023 Fuel Dock Staff

Nathan. Dock Master. Nathan has worked at the Marina for the past 2 summers and progressed to the dock master position. Very customer oriented, Nate is always ready to help you out.

Luc. Has completed his work placement this past winter at the Marina and is getting to know all aspects of the operation. He was actively involved in the launch/haul process.

Julia New for 2023 Julia has a love of the water and rides her jet ski to work! From a large local boating family, she will be a great addition to the staff.

A reminder the fuel dock closes at 5 PM. Please plan your arrival with enough time to complete the services you require.

Do's and Don'ts around the Marina

Do tie your boat with 4 lines

Don't walk your dog without a leash.

Do respect our water and use bilge absorb pads. Pump your bilge outside the harbour

Don't BBQ on the dock. Only on your boat.

Do watch your wake and speed in the harbour Max 5 knots

Do have fun and enjoy the summer!

Line and Fender Sale Last Week !

25% off all dock-lines, cordage and fenders

Sale ends July 1st.

The biggest cause of boat damage in the last few storms was poorly tied dock lines or lines that failed due to old age.

Recycle

We try to keep recycling simple at the Marina.

In the blue bins you only put paper, plastic and cans. Everything else goes in the garbage. The bins are labelled if you forget.

If you have a lot of cardboard from a project there is a large green cardboard bin in the centre of the parking lot by the store

Canada Day Celebrations

A reminder of the FREE hamburgers and hot dogs this weekend to celebrate Canada Day.

Saturday July 1st from 12 PM until 1 PM at the lounge building. Come and meet Cam!

First come first serve!

New GM

A couple of years ago I had a plan. Things change, sometimes without your control but you still have the plan. Having a GM was the plan. Finding the right person that was the challenge! I felt 10 years has given me the knowledge to operate the Marina and know it was time to share the load. I'm not going anywhere at the moment as I enjoy the business immensely. I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge with Cam and see the Marina develop and grow under his leadership.

As a valued customer we appreciate your business and continued support of the Marina and Yacht Club
Take care and be safe!

Sincerely,
Jeff Signature
